Cover Girl: Kate Bosworth for California Style

Kate Bosworth is the most recent celeb to cover California Style Magazine for their September issue. I like this shoot, but I wish they gave her other poses to do. Four of the photos including the cover are the same arm across the waist, other hand in the air (or by the mouth) look.

DIY: Bow Tie Necklace

I adore Bows. I have more bow headbands than should probably be allowed; its part of my constant desire to be a real life Alice in Wonderland. Saying that, it should also be noted that I am trying new things out with bows (obviously just expanding my love of them). I made a bow tie necklace and would like to show you how easy it is to do!

First you need to find a bow tie. I was lucky enough to find this vintage bow tie at an antique store. Definitely check out antique stores and consignment stores first if you want that vintage-y feel. Otherwise you can buy them in just about any men's store (but they'll be more expensive!). **Make sure that you have the ability to loop a chain onto the bow tie (usually found on clip on ties).
Next, if you've chosen wisely there will be holes on either side of the bow tie to loop a necklace chain through. If there aren't its okay! You'll want to stop by a craft store like Michael's to buy necklace clasps and sew them onto the bow tie. This way you have somewhere to loop your necklace chain.

When choosing a chain, you must think about how visible you want it to be. The thicker it is, the more you'll be able to see it. That's why I chose a thin chain to use, to make the bow tie appear like its floating. The other thing you want to think about is how long you want the necklace to be. I wanted a short necklace so that the bow tie rested just below the neckline so I found a short chain.

Once you have all the necessities you can loop the chain through your bow tie and voila! You have a bow tie necklace.

Best Dressed Spotlight: Rachel Bilson

Heading into the back-to-school season, the thought of fall fashion starts bouncing around our minds. It's unclear if its our own mind telling us, "hey you know what would be great? If you bought some new clothes for yourself." Or it could be the trillion ads on television of dancing kids and adults celebrating buying new clothes for a new "year". Either way, fall fashion cannot be ignored and we must start deciding what type of cool weather clothes we want to sport for the season.

If you're not sure yet what to wear, its always great to look at some of your favorite celebrities for inspiration. I find that Rachel Bilson is the perfect gal for the job. She has a midwest knitwear meets bohemian casual style. Rachel embraces the colder weather by opting for durable (yet fashionable) jackets and an array of boots. Her love of jeans cannot be missed, she wears just about every cut and color. This helps change up her look and makes her look put together without losing the comfort of a pair of jeans. You'll also notice that Rachel loves light jackets. She is often seen wearing blazers because of the ease of which to wear them and their ability to jazz up an outfit.

If you pay close attention you can see how easy it is to replicate her looks. You only need a few mainstay items to do so; durable jacket (possibly military inspired for the cold weather), boots (choose the color you're most likely to wear), jeans (bell bottoms are back in), and a blazer (for the cooler days).

Dianna Agron is Pretty in Pink

Glee star Dianna Agron recently revealed her trim locks and has once again made a hair change. Following in the latest steps of Katy Perry, Dianna is now sporting fluorescent pink ombre hair.  Other stars have already been fans of this trend including Rachel McAdams, Pink, Kelly Osbourne, Paris Hilton, Gwen Stefani and Lily Allen to name a few. What do you think of the pink hair trend in Hollywood?

Style Icon: Katie Holmes

I adore Katie Holmes, not just because she played Joey Potter on one of my all time favorite tv shows Dawson's Creek but because she is a fantastic role model when it comes to life and fashion. Ever since the birth of her daughter Suri, Katie has tried very hard to remain out of the limelight except for her acting roles, which I think should be respected in the fame hungry world we live in.

In terms of her fashion, she remains conservative sophisticated by making fashion choices that not only suit her age but also her personality. I think the best part about her fashion is that it is SO replicable. She wears clothes that could easily be in the closet of the everyday woman. From slouchy cable knit sweaters, to flared out jeans, and the style staple a pea coat, she's got it all. Though she wears jeans on a constant basis (which also makes me love her as I have a jean obsession myself) she never looks dull. Katie makes sure to pair her jeans with a bow tied blouse or a prep school blazer to take the look from boring to a fashionable must have. Now I'm not saying she hasn't had some bad fashion choices, but let's be honest, we've all been there.

Take a look at some of my favorite looks worn by Katie. (Mind you its a lot because I had a hard time editing them down).
What do you think about Katie Holmes breezy cool style?
